The Boss’s Son Gets Sworn In as Mom Calls Him #OurFamilyHero

Like any proud mom and dad, Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen stood smiling ear to ear today as their youngest son, 25 year-old Sam and 14 others, were sworn into the newest class of Jersey City firemen.

Steven Fulop, Mayor of Jersey City swore the new firefighters in tweeting, “The Boss @springsteen + Patti visited us in #JerseyCity City Hall today. They’re such nice ppl. We got to spend some time in my office talking about music but more than that they’re proud parents of a new JC Firefighter. Congrats to all the new FF joining the best FD anywhere.”

Patti has called Sam their family hero. Bruce and Patti’s other kids include Evan, 29, who is program director and host for Sirius XM satellite radio and Jessica, 27, is a champion equestrian rider.

Bruce Springsteen told WCBS that, “It was a long road, he’s (Sam) very dedicated, quite a few years and we are just excited for him today.” For his part Sam confirmed that his training “wasn’t easy.”
