The Truth Is That They Are All of Our Seniors

Sadly high school seniors all over the country, actually all over the world, are missing out on so much this year, prom, senior skip day and the culmination of it all, the grand finale, graduation.

School districts everywhere are trying to do something to let their seniors know that they care about them and that they want to help them mark this milestone in any way that is appropriate for these times.

Caseville Public Schools in Michigan wanted to help their Class of 2020 remember their graduation year with joy and so they set about creating 20 (yes, there are 20 graduates) banners featuring the name and photo of each graduating senior. They hung those banners from the lamp posts lining Main Street. And they did it all on the sly, hoping to surprise their seniors.

The Huron Daily Tribune reports that “Jessica Sancrant, co-athletic director and administrative assistant for Caseville Public School, said school staff were inspired by a Facebook post about a school that made banners for its spring athletes.” The Tribune further reports that the banners were hung yesterday, wind and snow notwithstanding.

Sancrant said, “the school has heard from many parents, who were delighted when they saw the banners. The banner featuring the class of 2020 salutatorian Bayley McIlhargie was hung on a post in front of her mother Tonya’s hair studio.

She added that each senior will keep their banner as a keepsake of this crazy, crazy time. And we here at Grown and Flown hope that this community’s small gesture makes a big impression on Caseville’s kids, because they really are all of our seniors.

On Caseville’s Public School Facebook page, it seems that the school has had many inquiries into how to do this. The school reasserted their pride in their graduates and thanks everyone for the “support. likes, comments and shares.”

Make plans to drive through Caseville today! We have a special surprise going up for our seniors! These will proudly…
