It has been three LONG years since the Crawley family left our homes and we are counting the days until they return. Yep, back they’ll be in a movie this fall and they are teasing us with clips to get us ready. Downton Abbey took great pains with everything from elocution to costume to set design to transport us back to the years 1912-1926. It was gorgeous escapism at its very best.
Downton Abbey Movie Trailer (to hold us over until the movie opens September 20, 2019
Here is what we know:
Most of the cast we loved so much are back, including our very favorite, Maggie Smith as Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham. One character who won’t be on the big screen is cousin Rose, and Mary Crawley’s new husband makes only a brief appearance.
Julian Fellowes, who wrote the show, is writing the movie.
The movie will be a continuation of the film and is due to premier in September, 20, 2019 and its title is simply, Downton Abbey.
Filming is already completed and all there is to do is pour a cup of tea and watch this preview.
Executive producer Gareth Neame explained, “We had to do everything that all the fans wanted, but we had to do something that was fresh and original,” offers Neame. “We wanted a kind of storyline and sense of scale and production value that exceeded even the very high production values the TV show was remembered for. On the big screen, it just had to look a little bit more lavish and a little bit bigger and better.”
And did you know, because we did not, that the music in the long sweeping opening sequence is called, “Did I Make the Most of Loving You?”
