Guest Writer Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in sharing your writing with our readers. Here are a few guidelines to help you with your submission and some examples of stories that have done well for us:
- Trying to be “Perfect” is Killing Our Teens and We’re to Blame
- The 90s Were the Absolute Best College Years Ever and I Miss Zima
- When Your College Kid is Sick or Has An Emergency: These Are the Documents You May Need
Length Our sweet spot seems to be between 800-1500 words for your blog post but if you have written 650 of your very best words and the piece is complete, of course, we would love to see that. If you are a new writer for us, please submit a brief bio and a headshot.
Graphics
If you have an image that you think would go well with your piece, we would love to see it. But, only send us images that you own the rights to or that is marked free to share. We reserve the right to sub out a different image.
Title
Feel free to suggest a title for your post but be aware that we may change it.
Social shares
We are on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram as Grown and Flown and we share each blog post we publish across all platforms. If you are on social media, please tell us where we can find you. If we publish your post, please share your writing from Grown and Flown across your social media platforms and tag us so we can engage with your readers.
Original essays
We pay for original content. If you send us a piece you wrote that has been published elsewhere, we may want to republish it, but we don’t pay for republications.
Later publication
If after your exclusive run with Grown and Flown has lapsed you wish to republish a piece we’ve published, please include these words and link: “This originally appeared on Grown and Flown.
