We love sports traditions and love all the rah-rah that goes with college games. But the University of Iowa Hawkeyes’ new college football tradition is one of the best.
Shown on this video, you can see fans at the end of the first quarter giving a very special wave to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital that sits right next to the stadium. As the kids gather by the window overlooking the game. The capacity crowd of the stadium which seats over 70,000 stand in unison sending love up to the kids and their parents and medical personnel.

The idea for the wave came from a football fan page Hawkeyes Heaven that asked:
So I was thinking…
Wouldn’t it be cool if we made it a tradition after the 1st quarter of every home game to have everyone in Kinnick wave to the kids and their families watching from The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Pass this on and let’s make it happen!
Many of the kids were wearing U of I jerseys and were held up in their parents arms to see the game and the wave in their honor.
