A Grown and flown friend writes: I regret that after college my husband and I encouraged our daughter to go to law school. She came up with the idea when she was in her mid-20’s and at the time, we thought she was making the right choice. After one year of law school, however, it was clear that our daughter hated it and demonstrated no aptitude for studying the law. (Her law school grades were far lower than her grades at a competitive high school and college.) She went on to graduate–accumulating massive debt that she will be paying off for years–and passed the bar. Now, she works as a lawyer, miserably. I hate to see her this unhappy. Far too many people go to law school. Several class action law suits are in the works from law school graduates who can’t find jobs. Overall, I find this truly sad.
